But my opinion, Kurento has come a very long way over the last few years. Their documentation has improved a lot (https://doc-kurento.readthedocs.io/en/latest/) and supports many other formats like eBook or PDF (https://www.kurento.org/documentation) They've released OpenVidu (https://openvidu.io/) a framework based on Kurento with a free option and cloud licensing. I wouldn't say it's on the decline, it's a pretty active community and has lots of great examples using Spring Boot & Java, Node.js and Browser JavaScript here: (https://github.com/Kurento/kurento-tutorial-java). Was easy for me to get several of their demo's up and running locally while the server was running on docker on my NAS. I will definitely look at some of the other servers you've mentioned and give them a try as well. I can't wait for better native in browser (in App) WebRTC window sharing (like to share a DIV) or screen sharing is available. Thanks again, I really enjoyed the read!

Jernej, as far as I am aware, Pion is an independent implementation of WebRTC that doesn’t use any code from libwebrtc directly.

Looking at Pion website, if I understand correctly they implemented WebRTC API in Go? Does that mean they don't use anything from core libwebrtc library?
